Airplanes of all types will line up at the starting line for the 20th Anniversary AirVenture Cup cross-country air race at 9am on July 23, 2017 at the Mount Vernon Outland Airport in Illinois. Immediately after takeoff, they will turn northward along the race course with intermediate checkpoints along the way to the finish line at the Wausau Downtown Airport in Wisconsin. The race is open to a wide variety of pilots and aircraft, from sport pilots to astronauts, and J-3 Cubs to Turbine Legends. Over the years we have had people of varying aviation backgrounds and aircraft in all speed regimes race and win trophies.
